HE Barnes upgrade to Microsoft 365 Premium & use Mobile Device Management for their devices
Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, HE Barnes Ltd have provided innovative electrical and mechanical services to customers nationwide for over 100 years. Commercial mechanical and electrical projects are undertaken across the UK and completed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to the highest of standards and design flexibility for their clients.
Customer Requirement
As part of HE Barnes Cyber Insurance requirements, all mobile devices used to access company data were required to be centrally managed and have the relevant technical controls such as Encryption and Access Controls enabled to meet with their Cyber Insurance requirements.
The Solution
VeryPC recommended that HE Barnes upgrade to Microsoft 365 Premium and use the Mobile Device Management (MDM) functionality provided by Microsoft Intune to manage their mobile devices.
The project required the rollout of both Apple Business Manager and the Managed Google Play store to enable the centralised management of applications with both Android and iOS devices used across the business.
To ensure devices were hardened from attack and compliant with Cyber Insurance requirements, all devices were configured to follow Microsoft iOS and Android Security Frameworks for mobile devices handling confidential and sensitive data, with Microsoft Defender deployed to devices to protect against web-based threats.
Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policies further provided additional protecting by restricting access to company data to only compliant devices, reducing the risk of unauthorised access to company data.
The Result
As a result, HE Barnes were able to not only meet, but exceed their Cyber Security requirements, giving them greater visibility and control over their mobile devices, helping reduce the risk of a cyber security incident.
