Sustainability

Driving Change Through Technology

At VeryPC, we aspire to put sustainability at the heart of everything we do. We recognise the profound impact our industry has on the environment and society, and we are committed to making a positive difference. Our sustainability goals are designed to guide us toward a future where innovation, responsible resource management, and ethical practices drive sustainable growth.

These goals reflect our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint, enhancing the well-being of our employees and communities, and delivering products that meet the highest standards of sustainability. Our ultimate focus is to foster sustainable growth by driving innovation and investing in our people, products, services, partnerships, and processes.

Carbon Reduction Plans

Very PC recognises the importance of making a full and lasting commitment to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions from our activities, in support of the wider commitment of the world to limit global temperature increases and the impact on the planet. We commit to the following:

1. For our company to achieve Net Zero in line with the Science Based targets set out by the UNFCCC i.e., to achieve Net Zero no later than 2050 and target a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030.

2. To set realistic short- and long-term targets that are designed to achieve our Net Zero commitments.

3. To report the total Greenhouse Gas emissions of our business, at a minimum, on an annual basis.

Reducing Waste

Packaging Take-Back

We offer a packaging take-back service meaning we will take away all the packaging that your new PCs came in, to reduce as much waste as possible. In most cases, the materials will be in perfectly good condition to be reused, and we’ll make sure that happens rather than wasting them just by throwing them away.

Removing Your Old Hardware

We can clear your site of all the unused equipment you might now have on your hands. Instead of them collecting dust in some old storeroom or filling up a skip, we can remove your old PCs for you. If they are in a good enough state, we’ll pass them on for refurbishment or recycling and they may end up being used for a charitable cause. If they are totally past it, we’ll dispose of them responsibly as per the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations.

Environmental Impact

Our operations are designed to foster a healthy environment and enhance biodiversity. We minimise our environmental footprint by adhering to ISO 14001 standards and carefully considering the environmental impact of all our activities, including logistics and recycling.

Back in 2009 we set ourselves the task of creating the most sustainable PC on the planet, which led to the birth of our flagship Green PC, Broadleaf, featuring an iconic sturdy aluminium PC chassis. Fast forward to 2024 and we have revived our signature Green PC in the form of Broadleaf Mini. Designed in partnership with Intel and our manufacturing partners JWIPC, Broadleaf Mini is a combined effort to reduce environmental impact through design, manufacturing, and use.

Social Values

Charity is integral to our business, and 2024 has been a vibrant year with colleagues and teams engaging in various fundraising activities for our selected organisations. Looking ahead to 2025, we've decided to focus our fundraising efforts on supporting local charities. This commitment to charity work is a vital aspect of our sustainability ethos.

Some examples of our recent local charity work include sponsoring Abbey Lane Juniors Football Club and raising funds with Sheffield Mencap & Gateway, an independent charity supporting people with learning disabilities. We support many of our longstanding customers including HE Barnes, with donations going to local initiatives such as Sheffield Futures, a charity supporting young people in creating positive futures.

Wellbeing & Inclusivity

We prioritise supporting our employees and embracing diversity, and our commitment extends beyond policies and procedures, fostering a culture of inclusivity and engagement. We offer comprehensive training programs, as well as volunteer days and community involvement opportunities, ensuring that every employee is fully supported.

Our social committee and dedicated social budget play a key role in promoting employee well-being and fostering a positive workplace environment by organising events and activities that encourage connection, rejuvenation, and a sense of community.
