What Does End of Service Mean for Windows 10?

“End of Service” (EOS), sometimes called End of Support or End of Life, means Microsoft will stop issuing free security updates, feature updates, or technical support for Windows 10 after a specified date. The OS will still work, but without updates, it becomes increasingly vulnerable, unsupported, and risky.

Important Dates: When Is the Deadline?

  • October 14 2025: Official EOS for Windows 10. No more free updates or support.

  • October 13 2026: Extended Security Updates (ESU) end for consumers using the free option.

  • Up to October 2028: Paid ESUs available for education and business customers.

  • Windows 10 (IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021): Supported until January 2032, but limited to specialist cases.

Pros of Using ESU

  • Gives you more time
  • Keeps devices protected
  • Helps maintain compatibility
  • Reduces pressure for large estates

❌ Cons of Using ESU

  • No features or fixes
  • Yearly cost increases
  • Not a long-term solution
  • Security still falls behind
  • Software support will fade

  • Insurance & compliance: Running outdated, unsupported systems may violate cyber-insurance terms or data regulations
  • Compatibility: Emerging software and driver updates increasingly target newer Windows versions, phasing out older OS support.

Benefits of Windows 11

  • Extended support & updates: Ongoing feature and security updates, all the lates patches and good stuff.
  • Newer generation CPUs & performance: Access to the latest hardware advancements like AI CPUs, better performance, better efficiency.
  • TPM 2.0 & secure boot: Hardware based security with added software and boots options to keep your machine safe.
